Privacy Policy
Introduction
This policy describes how Bopter collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you use our service. We are committed to handling your data transparently and in line with applicable data protection law. Bopter is currently in beta and we do not use tracking, advertising, or third-party analytics.
Information We Collect
We collect the information you provide when you register and use the service: your name (or display name), email address, and the band and gig information you enter—including venues, dates, lineups, and availability. We also process basic technical information necessary to run the service (such as IP address and browser type) and records of email communications we send you (for example, notifications about gigs and invitations). We do not collect payment details, and we do not support user-uploaded images or fan accounts.
How We Use Information
We use your data to provide and operate the service: to manage your account, display your bands and gigs, coordinate availability, send service-related emails (such as invitations and gig updates), and to improve the product. We do not use your data for advertising or for profiling across other services.
Legal Basis
Under UK and EU data protection law, we process your data on the following bases: performing our contract with you (providing the service); our legitimate interests in running, securing, and improving the service; and, where we send direct marketing or non-essential communications, your consent where required. You can withdraw consent for such communications at any time.
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored using third-party infrastructure providers that we use to operate the platform. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. Session information is stored in your browser (for example, in localStorage) so you can stay logged in; we do not use that storage for tracking.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers or for advertising purposes. We may share data only with service providers that we need to run the platform (such as hosting and email delivery), under contracts that require them to protect your data and use it only for the purposes we specify.
Data Retention
We retain your data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data where practical, except where we must retain it for legal or legitimate operational reasons (for example, resolving disputes or complying with law).
Your Rights
You have the right to access your personal data, to have it corrected if it is wrong, to request erasure in certain circumstances, to restrict or object to certain processing, and to receive a copy of your data in a portable format. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. For users in Ireland or where Irish law applies, the relevant authority is the Data Protection Commission of Ireland. You can contact us to exercise your rights or ask questions about your data at the email address below.
